Happy early Christmas!
I am so excited to let you know that my new Christmas single is now out and available at iTunes:)
Some of you have asked me…why the 12 Days of Christmas and why did you re-write most of the lyrics?
This is a fun story to share….
My dad’s side of the family is Italian/Armenian. That means lots of family, food and fun over the Holidays.
Every Christmas since I can remember our family has had this fun tradition. We have our “big” Italian Christmas party on Christmas Eve (well…now the Sat before Christmas)
Picture gathering as many as 85 people in one home or now a Clubhouse type facility. Of course tons and tons of Italian food…. pasta, meatballs, lasagna, pizza, squid, manicotti, antipasto & the list goes on and on. Oh and cannoli’s… oh the cannoli’s.:)
It is a wonderful time of connecting with family and hearing what has been going on in everyone’s lives. As you can imagine there have been years of celebrating more babies being born into the fam, marriages & also hard years when we have lost loved ones to cancer or other illness. One thing that always brings much joy is our tradition of singing The 12 Days Of Christmas.
For the last 30 + years the family will break off into the smaller family groups and each get a day of the song to sing. Sometimes this was my job along with my sister to write out who had what day and hand them out:) My Grammy and her 4 sisters always got “5 golden rings” it is quite funny to watch and listen to. The best part is any newbie to the family party get’s to do a solo on “a partridge in a pear tree” Yes. That happens 12 times…look out future spouse…that just might be you!
While in a co-writing session with the talented Aaron Rice who has written songs like “Good Morning” by Mandisa and “Made To Love” by Toby Mac we decided to take at stab at this favorite of mine. I always wondered what the lyrics meant and thought it would be fun to change them to something I am quite passionate about:)
I hope you enjoy this new little spin on the 12 Days Of Christmas!
Please check it out on iTunes and share it with your friends and social media sites:) Don’t forget to “take a day of rest!” You will only understand that if you listen through to Day 7J
Wishing you all the best Christmas!
